Ubuntu Global Jam
Prague, Saturday 27th March 2010, restaurant U Cisare
Global Jam took place in restaurant U Cisare in Prague. The owner, also a Linux enthusiast, offered us its place, so we would like to thank him for his support.
There was very friendly and relaxed atmosphere from the beginning of this session. We met in a group of about fifteen people which consisted of the moderators and active members of the Czech Ubuntu Forum. Believe or not it was our first live premiere, and it was very successful. After the working part of our session we had lunch together with free discussion and resolving of some burning issues of the Czech Linux scene. Finally, it was a meeting of people who knew themselves only virtually...
And now the working part of our meeting. This section has been divided into two separated blocks.
In the first part we focused on preparing of the manuals on the Czech WIKI. First was the introduction (see the link. below), which contained theoretical information. Vojtech Trefny provided beginners with “basic know how” of making new manuals on WIKI, all that by understandable way. Later we switched to the practical part, where we managed to create several new manuals.
The second part of the presentation (see the link. below) undertook the Czech translations for Ubuntu. In this time the future translators could practically see how actively participate and where find all necessary materials for their future job.
